Coming to The Collective Space in January 2015, The Empty Room presents: Melancholy Play by Sarah Ruhl. This bold, sassy, contemporary farce challenges assumptions about society's constant quest for happiness – and shines a light on the topic of depression and psychological illnesses. Auditions will be held in October; follow us on Facebook and Twitter for up to date announcements, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. On what we do:
The Empty Room is an constantly evolving group of theatre artists in Toronto, Canada. We come together, time and time again, out of a fascination with the unique power of live performance; the wonderfully simple thing that separates live theatre from almost all other art forms is that the artists are present, they share in the energy of the room with you, they breathe the same air. For all the technological advances of digital media, an image projected upon a screen can never match the immediacy of another person being close enough to take you by the hand. Theatre is what we do, and this is why we do it.
